1.Introduction

With the approval of the State Council in 1982, Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine is one of the universities jointly funded by the Government of Shanxi Province and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is also one of the three universities in the Province that have been entrusted to accept students on Chinese Government Scholarship.

Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine now has perfect infrastructure and sufficient resources for running schools. At present, there are 2 campuses in Taiyuan and Jinzhong, covering an area of 65.27 hectares. There are 15 secondary teaching institutions, with 4 directly affiliated hospitals, 11 non-directly affiliated hospitals, 13 teaching hospitals and 18 non-medical practical teaching bases. At present, we have 4183 teaching and nursing staff, including 618 full-time teachers and 316 teachers with senior professional and technical positions (92 people with senior professional titles and 3 masters of traditional Chinese medicine).

The university began to take in international students in 2002. In 2008, it was approved to accept students from the regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Actively responding to “the Belt and Road Initiative”, it is one of the earliest members of “the Belt and Road” University Alliance among Chinese medicine colleges and universities. So far 184 undergraduate students and 2 master students from countries of the area have studied in our university or 20 consecutive years, it has hosted international acupuncture training courses endorsed by the Ministry of Commerce. It has maintained good cooperative relationship with academic institutions in more than 20 countries, including the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

3.Subsidy Category, Duration

(1) Subsidy Type

Master’s degree students.

(2)Subsidy period

This period includes time for Chinese study (Foundation Course) and professional study. The funding period for Chinese Studies (Foundation Course) is one year, and the duration of the funding for professional studies is the same as the number of years of basic study.

4.Subsidy Content and Criteria

(1) Subsidy Content

It includes tuition fees, accommodation fees, living expenses and comprehensive medical insurance premiums.

  3. Living expenses: CNY 3,000 per month

  4. Comprehensive medical insurance premium: CNY 800 per year

6.Application Requirements

(1) Applicants must held a valid non-Chinese passport, be healthy both in body and in mind.

(2) Applicants for masters degree should have a bachelors degree, excellent academic performance, and generally not more than 35 years old.

(3) The language of instruction is Chinese, and the applicants Chinese level has reached at least level 4 of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) in principle.

(4) Applicants should meet both the admission requirements of our school in terms of academic ability and other relevant aspects.

7.Application Materials

(1) Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (written in Chinese or English)

(2) A scanned copy of the first page (photo page) of the passport and the visa page (if you have experience in China). Applicants are required to submit a clear scanned copy of the first page of their ordinary passport valid after September 2023, if the validity period of the current passport does not meet the requirements, please replace the new passport in time. For applicants who are unable to apply for a passport before submitting the application due to objective reasons, they can submit valid documents or supporting documents containing their English name, gender, nationality, date of birth and other information with the permission of our school.

(3)Notarized certificate of highest academic qualification. If the applicant has not yet graduated, he or she must submit the expected graduation certificate or school certificate issued by the school. If these documents are in a language other than Chinese and English, a notarized translation of Chinese or English must be attached.

(4)Academic transcripts (from undergraduate level). Scanned transcripts should include bachelors, masters (if obtained), doctoral (if obtained) stages, up to the most recent semester. Transcripts should be issued and stamped by the Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School or relevant student management department of the school attended. Transcripts in Chinese/English can be provided, and if they are in a language other than English, an English translation and notarization are required.

(5)Certificate of language proficiency. Applicants applying for Chinese as a professional language of instruction must provide a HSK score report within the validity period that meets the corresponding Chinese level requirements. Those who have obtained a degree from a Chinese university using Chinese as the language of instruction are not required to provide a Certificate of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK).

(6)Pre-admission materials. Pre-admission materials issued by us.

(7)Study plan in China. Applicants should submit a study plan in Chinese/English (more than 1000 words), the content should cover the understanding of the major and institution to be applied, the views on the future development of the major, personal development plan, the reasons for choosing to study this major in our school, and the study plan can only be written in Chinese or English.

(8)Recommendation letters. The applicant should submit a letter of recommendation from two professors or associate professors, the content should focus on the requirements of the applicants study goals in China, the cooperation between the Chinese institution or the Chinese tutor and the foreign tutor or the inter-school exchange, and the evaluation of the students comprehensive ability and future development, which can only be written in Chinese or English.

(9)Applicants under the age of 18 must submit relevant legal documents of their legal guardian in China.

(10)Scanned copy of the Physical Examination Form for Foreigners (the original is kept by yourself, this form is printed by the Chinese health and quarantine department and must be filled in English). Applicants should be examined in strict accordance with the items required in the Physical Examination Form for Foreigners (Attachment 2). The form will not be valid if it is missing, does not have a photo of the person or the photo is not stamped, and does not have the signature and stamp of the doctor or hospital. The test results are valid for 6 months.

(11)Certificate of no criminal record. The applicant is required to submit a valid certificate of no criminal record issued by the local public security organ, which should normally be within 6 months before the date of submission of the application.

Note: Materials uploaded through the system must be clear, truthful and valid. It is recommended that the applicant use professional equipment to scan the relevant documents to be submitted, and the applicant shall bear the consequences caused by the unclear or unidentifiable materials.

8.Application Process

(1)Please visit the “Study in China” website and click the “Scholarship Application for Students” icon to enter the application system. “Study in China” website link: http://www.campuschina.org, click the [CREATE AN ACCOUNT] button to register an account. After successful registration, log in to the system using the registered account.

The agency number of Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine is 10809. For the detailed application process, please refer to Attachment 1 of the User Operation Instructions for Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (CGSIS).

(2)Log in to the website of Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine. Please click on https://gjzx.sxtcm.edu.cn/ to submit your application online.

Note: The China Scholarship Council does not accept direct applications from individuals.

9.Application Time

Application deadline: March 15, 2023

10.Review Admission

(1)Our school is responsible for reviewing the application materials, and using written tests or interviews to assess the applicants, and recommend candidates to the China Scholarship Council.

(2)Applicants who are pre-admitted by our school can be funded by the Chinese Government Scholarship to study in China after being reviewed by the experts of the Scholarship Council.

(3)Chinese Government Scholarship students shall not be entitled to other scholarships (excluding various one-time incentives) established by governments at all levels in China and admission institutions at the same time. If the applicant violates the regulations, he/she will be immediately disqualified from the Chinese Government Scholarship and must return the funding received. Those who deliberately conceal their funding are not allowed to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship for three years, except for disqualification.

(4)Scholarship recipients are not allowed to change the admission institution, major and study period after coming to China.

(5)Scholarship qualifications will not be retained for learners who cannot come to China according to the admission period.

Instructions for Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (CGSIS)

-Applicable to Applicants

 

Before applying for the scholarship, please read the following operation process carefully.

Step 1: Please visit the Study in China website and click the Scholarship Application for Students” icon to enter the application system. Study in China website link: http://www.campuschina.org, click the [CREATE AN ACCOUNT] button to register an account. After successful registration, log in to the system using the registered account.

Step 2: Input Personal Details. Click Edit Personal Details and and finish inputting personal details by filling in all the information, verifying and saving the information. After the completion of this section, return to the previous page by clicking “Finish” and start filling in your application information.

Step 3: Select the correct “Program Category”. Please select Program Category Type B and click the [Add a New Application] button to start entering the application information.

Step 4: Input the correct Agency Number. (provided by the university to which you intend to apply). The Agency Number of Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine is: 10809

Program Category and Agency Number are directly matched, both are mandatory for online application. Scholarship receiving authorities (or application processing authorities) will inform the program category and agency number to candidates who are qualified for applying.After inputting agency number, the matched agency name will automatically show on the page. As Program Category and Agency Number are directly matched, application processing authorities will not receive your online application if the program category or agency number are not correct.

Step 5: After completing the above operationsapplicants shall complete the application by inputting the information of “Language Proficiency and Study Plan” and uploading the “Supporting Documents”, until clicking “Submit”.Check each part of your application carefully before submission. Please make sure that all the information and uploaded documents are valid and accurate.

Step 6: Once submitted, amendment cannot be made on “Personal Details” and “Application Information”. Before the application being processed by the processing authorities, applicant can revoke the submitted application by clicking “Withdraw” and edit the application. After revoking the application, applicant must submit at second time after re-editing, or the application will not be processed. Once the application is processed, application cannot be revoked.
